The View From Nanceddan

Nanceddan (Cornish for 'Valley of the Birds') is located in the village of Ludgvan, midway between St Ives and Penzance in a beautiful and tranquil valley setting.  Superb views are enjoyed from the holiday apartment over the surrounding countryside and down through the valley to Mounts Bay, St Michael's Mount and Ludgvan Church. The land surrounding Nanceddan is currently used as grazing for cattle, the growing of flowers, potatoes, maize, etc, and other farming practices.

This is a relaxing and peaceful yet very well located destination to enjoy the beauty of West Cornwall.  The nearby footpaths which lead to the local village with its 15th century church and public houses allow visitors to enjoy stunning scenery via fields and woodlands.  The village of Marazion with its quaint shops and sandy beach is less than a five minutes drive away.  The village of Crowlas on the A30 is approximately one mile away and has the usual village amenities including a post office, shop, public house, fish 'n' chip shop, and bus stops.

There are many footpaths available nearby which provide some lovely walks for those who enjoy rambling, and many of the lovely beaches of West Cornwall are within easy reach. Nearby Marazion and Long Rock both have sandy beaches and link up with the cycle path into Penzance where there is a wide variety of shops together with the Tourist Information Centre and the main line railway station.

Within easy access of Nanceddan are the towns of Penzance and St Ives both being approximately 4-5 miles away. The city of Truro with its superb cathedral and many shops is approximately 25 miles distant as is the town of Falmouth which also has a variety of shops and many sea-faring connections.

Other places of interest in the area include St Michael's Mount at Marazion, the nationally acclaimed Eden Project near St Austell, the Minack Theatre with its cliff-side arena, the Tate gallery in St Ives, Lands End and the Lizard Peninsula. Trips to the Isles of Scilly are available by sea on the Scillonian Ferry which departs from Penzance Harbour, or by helicopter from Penzance Heliport which is located on the approach to Penzance behind the B&Q superstore.

Directions

Turn right off A30 at Crowlas crossroads into Ludgvan. At 'The Old Inn', turn right up Blowing House Hill. Follow road for 1/2 mile and turn left down lane as shown by name post.
